FEATURED MENTOR

JASON MARTINSEN

I was born in Cambridge, Minnesota. I moved to Canada to study classical animation at Sheridan College. My student film MT. EHN won the Teletoon: Most Promising Student award, and led to a job in 2002 with Naughty Dog Studios animating characters in the hit game series, Jak and Daxter. Blue Sky Studios in New York hired me in 2005 and worked on Ice Age 2, Horton Hears a Who, and Ice Age 3. In July 2008, I decided to leave NY and spend several months travelling. Currently, I am animating Planet 51 at Ilion Animation Studios in Madrid and mentoring at Animation Mentor.

What is an eCritique?
The eCritique® tool is an innovative key element in the Animation Mentor program. Each week, a professional mentor will provide their students with a newly recorded video critique on their weekly animation assignment.  This provides valuable insight, feedback and suggestions on ways to improve students’ weekly assignments and animation skills. In addition to viewing their own critiques, students may also view the critiques of their peers, learning from their mistakes and successes as well.
