David Breaux has always had a knack for drawing. In the early 80s, his parents made the fateful decision that would forever change his life: They gave him a Commodore 64 computer for Christmas. He quickly began learning BASIC so he could make cool pictures with the thing! Fast forward through Atari ST days, his first taste of 3D CG was a little program known as Cyber Sculpt. On a senior graduation trip to Disney World, David asked a few questions at the animation studio and decided to study art and animation (Art=good...math=bad!)

In 1990, David decided to study art at the Columbus College of Art and Design (CCAD) in Columbus, Ohio. He set out with an obsession to create living creatures that don't exist in the natural world. He produced a small student CG project on an ancient Symbolics system, which went on to be shown at the Wexner Center for the Arts at Ohio State University.

In 1994, something happened that forever changed his career goal to create the unimaginable: Jurassic Park. Here was a way to create the most realistic creatures ever, and be able to make them move. David said he "teared up when they first revealed the brachiosaur! It was like the best of both worlds; there was no end in sight of what I could do if I could just get my hands on this stuff."

After graduating from college in 1995, David worked on and off as a freelance illustrator and sculptor. In 1997, he returned to school for a course in Softimage and UNIX. After receiving his diploma, he landed his first good gig at a little animation studio in Minneapolis called Reelworks Animation. He was hired as a freelance production artist for a number of well-known animated commercials for Hershey's chocolate.

In 1998, he left his position in commercial animation to pursue work in the video game industry, where he specialized in character modeling, texturing and animation for PC and next generation consoles.

David's been in the animation field now for more than 12 years and has worked on films such as Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, Land of the Lost, Speed Racer, Garfield the Movie 1&2, and Night at the Museum 1. He is currently an animator at Rhythm & Hues Studios where he completed work on Alvin and the Chipmunks 2.
