The reason why I believe that Dan Segarra is a superstar mentor is because he really goes beyond to help his students. Dan checks for understanding when it comes to his notes. He doesn’t mind spending extra time helping students. I truly feel like he cares about us.

Dan is super clear and helpful! There is plenty of time for questions during Q&A’s (both general and in depth questions), and he also often includes examples of how he would tackle a subject. This always adds a little extra to class that I really loved.

Dan was an amazing mentor. He really pushed me in the direction I needed to be. He is honest and takes his time to really dive in and show you how to become successful. He is so passionate about animation and because of him I was able to learn so much. The community is awesome.

I liked a lot of his examples and slides, the analysis of shorts and good animation is great. The sharing of what is life in a studio is also great, as it is easy to imagine the day-to-day. Dan is selfless and goes above and beyond to help his students. He answers emails in a timely manner and is always willing to help. His enthusiasm is contagious and he leads every Q&A like a pro with lessons from start to finish. I would take him for every class if I could.

Dan has been one of my favorite mentors, so much so that I have had him for 2 courses. He is so kind and approachable. He always has great, honest feedback; simultaneously focusing on where students are currently in their learning journey and noting what they can do to improve. I especially enjoy his artistic eye when providing feedback, in addition to what will technically improve a student’s work. He helps make learning fun and enjoyable, and he always has a positive attitude.

Dan is very welcoming and gives concise, clear, and very informative feedback. As someone who often overthinks, I really appreciate him emphasizing to keep things “simple”. I also really appreciate Dan taking the time out of his day to help the class really nail down our ideas before we get into animating. Overall I feel like I’ve really grown as an animator thanks to Dan.
