Dave Vasquez

Dave is a great mentor and I am so glad I picked him for AN02. Dave’s lessons are very good because he really shows you what he is doing in this head. This is good because he is a master of organizing and steps so you could learn a lot. He also makes the lessons more or less a hang out which really makes it a joy to go to. His critiques are great because they are very detailed and you can see he remembers our last projects and tells us when we improved. I will always recommend Dave.

Dave was by far an amazing mentor. He speaks about industry life and how to navigate the day to day down to the small hardships. He isn’t worried about going over time and helping every student who has questions. His passion about animation also pours onto his students, leading the way for me and the others to create our best work possible. I consider myself lucky to have been in his class and I have clearly grown as an animator from it.

I loved having Dave as my mentor! The way he lectures and critiques is above and beyond. I hope I can have him again as an instructor. He speaks with so much wisdom and passion about animation. He is phenomenal.

Amazing as always! He really goes the extra mile to explain things and gives us advice to ensure we are understanding the assignment and push it even further!

Dave is an amazing mentor. If we had a question, Dave would send us a vimeo tutorial about how to do certain things in Maya. This was super helpful. Dave also sent extra lecture material about some principles I need to apply better in my Animation. I would recommend Dave to any animator, because he is just like his animation reel; Amazing!

Dave is amazing!! His Q&A’s are always super helpful and whenever I email him about anything he’s always quick to reply. I don’t think I’d want him to do anything differently cause he’s already awesome.

Dave was a great surprise. In his first message to us he seemed very much “by the book”, but during the Q&As it turned out to be completely untrue. He’s super fun, open and extremely generous with his time. He leaves a lot of space for questions and takes time to really explain things in depth. He genuinely seems to care – remembering who did what. His critiques are kind and encouraging and always motivate me to keep going and get over my insecurities. He’s been amazing and taught me so much!!!!!

Dave is ranked among the best mentors/teachers I have encountered in any educational situation. At every turn he has shown a personal interest in seeing us succeed, whether that’s recording extra tutorials, answering our questions throughout the week, or providing us with all the relevant information to improve our work to get us ready for the animation industry. I love his prepared lectures and that he takes extra time to give us real insights when we have additional questions in our Q&As.
