What Drew’s Students are Saying
Drew is Such an Awesome Mentor
Drew is such an awesome mentor. He’s been very helpful and so passionate about animation. I really appreciate how he gives his ecritique. He doesn’t mind giving longer critiques as long as he focuses everything from beginning to end. I like that he checks our work frame by frame and he gives us tips along the way. I also like how he presents his Q&As, he would show us clips as examples, which to me were helpful and effective in a way that we would understand how things were/are applied in the shot.
Amazing Mentor
I think Drew is an amazing mentor, I’m so happy I got to have him this term. No wonder he sells out so quickly I’ve loved classes because there’s always something new to see, whether it’s a demo or framing by animation clips, or learning how he planned and executed a shot. And his critiques are so complete! I don’t mind playing a 15-20 minute critique because it’s so detailed and motivates me to get back on Maya and keep going 😀
My Best Mentor
Drew has been my best mentor. I’m sure freedom of assignments help, but my last mentor was very strict with his shots. Drew has encouraged us to be creative in our shots. Before I started his class, I was kind of crushed. I wasn’t sure if I should even be an animator anymore. It was something I wanted my entire life, but I was so put down from class 2, it wasn’t fun anymore. Drew made it fun again. He’s very attentive to his students. He always replies right away and is extremely personable.
Made it Fun Again
Going into class 3 I had lost my motivation to animate, and didn’t know if I wanted to keep pursuing it or if it was a waste of time and I should move on. Then Drew made it fun again. Even the nitty picky polishing part. The way he talks about it and how he approaches polishing, makes me want to see what he sees and get to that level.
The Mentor I Came to Animation Mentor For
Drew is exactly the kind of mentor I came to Animation Mentor for. A rare combination of excellent animator and teacher. Well prepared for lectures but flexible towards what the class wants to discuss or needs help with.
