Elliott Roberts has been a professional animator since 2005. He started at Blue Sky Studios working on the film Robots, and went on to work at Industrial Light & Magic and Pixar Animation Studios on various productions including Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Ratatouille. Elliott has over 7 years of experience working on video games and was nominated for Best Writing at the 2011 GDC Choice Awards as a co-writer and designer on Double Fine’s Costume Quest. He currently teaches Body Mechanics, the second Core Animation Course at Animation Mentor.

Elliott is always encouraging us to get in touch outside of Q+A if we have any questions which is really great. I like the way he teaches because he makes sense and gets his points across. Can’t ask for much more then that really! The critiques are great, and he’s always been clear in “what” and “how” to go about changing for the revisions.
Great Mentor Overall
Elliot is a great mentor overall. Not too strict, not too easy going. Going into a new class, it can be quite daunting with a new mentor. As someone who finds it hard to approach people in general, it didn’t take a long time to feel comfortable. He always does demos related to the assignment at hand, which is super helpful.
I'm Really Glad of My Choice of Mentor
I’m really glad of my choice of mentor. I like that we work on real projects, solving real problems we face with our work. Being able to see the work of our mentor is really helpful. And what is also helpful we learn from our and others mistakes. I give Elliott high praise because I feel I get very much information needed to make progress in my work and it pays off in each project. Maybe it is a personal opinion, but for me what I get in this class is everything I will ever need for any upcoming task or project.
A Great Mentor
Elliott is a great mentor. He is unbelievably inspirational while still being down to earth and realistic in his teaching. His hands on Q&A show a lot of “how work is really done” which is a tremendous help in trying to find your own workflow. I find myself so motivated to keep learning and going further thanks to him.
