What Ray’s Students are Saying
Q&As Are Fun and Informative
Ray is an awesome mentor. Q&As are fun and informative, critiques are detailed and helpful. Advanced body mechanics with Ray has been excellent, and I have learned a lot this term.
Couldn't Ask for a Better Mentor!
10/10 for Ray. He’s got the technical know-how specifically for Maya and also makes time to jump directly into student’s projects and go through a problem they may be having. Couldn’t ask for a better mentor! Thanks Ray!
FANTASTIC About Getting Back to Students
Ray’s experience both as an animator and mentor are immediately apparent upon your first couple of Q&As with him. Using a mixture of lectures, demos, and shot breakdowns to convey the subject of the week, Ray manages to follow-up with students and get across the subject of that week’s class, all while keeping things fun and relaxed. Most importantly, Ray is FANTASTIC about getting back to students shortly after they message him.
Makes the Class Feel Personal
Ray is an amazing mentor; he has a vast knowledge of MAYA and has answered every question that the class has asked of him. He shows us clips of animated works and breaks them down so we can clearly see animation principles at their best. Ray also makes the class feel personal and he is always letting us know that we can send a message if there is something we are struggling on. He tells us stories about different jobs he’s had and it reminds me that learning about animation never really stops.
Really Supportive Throughout the Process
Ray is amazing! On day one he made me feel like we’ve worked together before. He’s easy to talk to and so great at adjusting his critique to each individual person’s needs. I had a tough time with a shot and he was really supportive throughout the process. The Q&As are the best I’ve had so far. He takes time to talk to each student and somehow has the ability to perfectly fill whatever time is remaining with really helpful material. I hope the majority of people in the industry are like him.
Super Helpful, Gives Great Feedback, and Very Friendly
Ray is the best mentor I have had at AM so far, he is always super helpful, gives great feedback, is very friendly, if you need him during the week you can send him a message at anytime and he’ll answer it that same day, he might be busy with his job or thousand things on his life but it doesn’t matter, he takes the time to answer and help you, which shows how much he cares for his students.
Extremely Helpful in Pushing My Animation
Ray is awesome! He has been extremely helpful in pushing my animation. He notices everything in a shot, and it’s great to have such a keen eye looking at things I’m missing, which in turn is making me look harder at my work.
Love that He Checks Up on Us
So far, one of the best mentors I had. Ray is very helpful and always ready to jump into Maya to show us things. Love that he checks up on us in the beginning of each Q&A.
