Did You Know?
I had never animated a quadruped before being hired on as an animator on the Disney film The Wild. It was a trial by fire as I suddenly had to animate the following different creatures, which all have very distinctly different physiology: squirrel, chameleons, koala bear, penguins, lions, and wildebeests. The hardest creature of my entire career to animate was (believe it or not), the snake!

What Dana’s Students are Saying

Dana is a very helpful mentor who encourages me to look and think about my shots differently than my prior mentors. She pushes performance within the confines of body mechanics, ultimately building the character from the inside-out without neglecting the intent of this course. Dana also encourages exploration in terms of style and exaggeration, often showing ways to add flair to our projects within our Q&As. She is very good about responding to questions outside of class as well.

I think since I started in Animation Mentor, this is the best class that I have ever have. I love the methodology. Dana does a lot of demos, and show us good examples of how to improve our animations, which is really helpful in our process. Also, the feedback that she gives about our shots is very complete. I’m improving a lot, that’s why I’m going to take my next class with her.

I think Dana is a wonderful mentor who cares about her students. Her Q&As are incredibly helpful and she even goes overtime in class to answer additional questions, so very often we get more than an hour which is very appreciated.
