What is Game Animation?
Game animation is similar to feature film animation, with a particular emphasis on body mechanics, weight, and impact. Unlike in film, game animators have to make sure their animation (composed of walk cycles, run cycles, idle cycles, and action sequences) is polished and appealing from every camera angle. This offers a unique level of freedom and creativity in their approach to animation. Game animation is high-quality and on par with feature-level animation—many professional animators work in both industries.
Video games are a growing, multi-billion dollar industry. Game studios need keyframe animators to create engaging characters that give players an interactive, in-game experience. Animation Mentor offers a unique take on game animation by integrating workflows from Maya to Unreal Engine, allowing you to animate and then play your character in real-time. Advanced animators with solid body mechanics experience can jump straight into game animation.
